Nigerian military eliminates scores of Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Published on December 13, 2020 By Don Silas " The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has eliminated several Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Forest area of Borno State. The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja. According to Enenche, the operation was executed on Dec.10 at Njimia after a series of aerial surveillance missions showed an uptick of activities in the settlement. “The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has recorded more successes in its air campaign against Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in the North East of the Country. Servant Sets Himself Ablaze To Protest Unpaid Salary in Monrovia A civil servant in Liberia, Archie Ponpon, has set himself ablaze over the nonpayment of his accumulated salary and arrears. Ponpon, who works at the judiciary branch of the government – Temple of Justice which houses the Supreme Court in Monrovia, set himself on fire to protest the delay of his pay. Co-workers told AFP that Ponpon had always threatened to set himself ablaze if the Temple of Justice failed to pay his salary and benefits owed him. “Since last October, we have not received a salary from the office. We are talking about one year,” one of Ponpon’s colleagues said. The colleague added that protests began in September over government refusal to pay salary, noting that Ponpon was part of a group of about 30 employees who staged a sit-in, all of whom were subsequently suspended. Mr Orobator’s lifeless body was discovered behind his apartment at about 1.30 p.m., with the rope which he used to hang himself, tied around his neck. The tragic incident attracted a large crowd of neighbours, sympathisers and passers-by, who expressed shock over his death. METRO Thunder strikes kill 15 cows Ekiti Published on September 20, 2020 By Emmanuel Ani Thunder on Saturday evening reportedly struck dead 15 cows at the outskirt of Ikogosi Ekiti community, Ekiti West Local Government area of Ekiti State. The incident, according to Asaoye of Ikogosi, Chief Ayo Ademilua, was a natural occurrence, which he said was strange in the town. Speaking with journalists via telephone on Sunday, Ademilua revealed that the incident happened at the Ikogosi Warm Spring site along Ipole -Ekiti road. Ikogosi warm spring has been a notable recreational and tourist centre, where warm and cold spring converge.
