  FUOYE MAKES CRUCIAL  APPOINTMENTS 15th October, 2020. This is to announce the appointments of two new Principal Officers and a Director at the ederal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE).      The Governing Council of the university Rose from a 4-day meeting on Thursday October 15, 2020 announcing the appointment of Mr Olatunbosun Odusanya as the second substantive Registrar of the morning institution. Mr Odusanya was until his appointment, the Director Administration and Special Duties at the Vice Chancellor's Office .                    He replaced Mr Adeyemo who had been relieved of his assignment some years ago.    The Council session presided over by the Chairman, Dr Lawan Yahuza has all members in attendance.  The meeting also announced the appointment of Dr I.   Late Friday Orobator Lecturer commits suicide in Benin Mr Orobator's lifeless body was discovered behind his apartment at about 1.30pm, with the rope which he used to hang himself, tied around his neck. By Mudiaga Affe     October 3, 202 0 Friday Orobator, a principal lecturer of the defunct College of Education, now Tayo Akpata University in Ekiadolor, Edo State, on Friday committed suicide by hanging himself at his Obakhazbaye residence in  Benin City , the state capital. Mr Orobator’s lifeless body was discovered behind his apartment at about 1.30 p.m., with the rope which he used to hang himself, tied around his neck. The tragic incident attracted a large crowd of neighbours, sympathisers and passers-by, who expressed shock over his death. The late Mr Orobator, said to be in his 50’s, was a member of the College of Education Academic Staff Union, (COEASU), and a principal lecturer at the Department of Adult Education.   METRO Thunder strikes kill 15 cows Ekiti Published   on   September 20, 2020 By   Emmanuel Ani Thunder on Saturday evening reportedly struck dead 15 cows at the outskirt of Ikogosi Ekiti community, Ekiti West Local Government area of Ekiti State. The incident, according to Asaoye of Ikogosi, Chief Ayo Ademilua, was a natural occurrence, which he said was strange in the town. Speaking with journalists via telephone on Sunday, Ademilua revealed that the incident happened at the Ikogosi Warm Spring site along Ipole -Ekiti road. Ikogosi warm spring has been a notable recreational and tourist centre, where warm and cold spring converge. The chief said the thunder was said to have struck during a torrential downpour that started around 4:00pm and ended at 6:02pm. “The whole town shook when the thunder struck.   BREAKING : Wale Babalakin resigns as UNILAG council chairman  Sep 17, 2020     Olabisi Deji     Edu-News    0 The Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos ( UNILAG), Mr Wale Babalakin (SAN) has resigned . His resignation came few hours after the Special Visitation Panel set up by the Federal Government to look into the affairs of the university submitted its report to the Education Minister, Malam Adamu Adamu, in Abuja. The Media Aide to Babalakin, Mr Mikail Mumuni,  who confirmed this, said his boss had resigned his position in the Council. Although the government is yet to officially come out with its decision on the panel’s report, it was learnt that both Babalakin and the embattled Vice-Chancellor, Prof Toyin Ogundipe, might  not come back to the office.    FUOYE: A CALL FOR OBJECTIVENESS (An update of "At A Time Like This") As our institution grows both in age and development it is expected that members of the community will equally advance in prosperity, experience, technicalities and moral standard. No matter how little or slow it may be, it's obvious we are not stagnant. Reading different opinions on the current state of affairs in the institution calls for serious concern. Mostly especially that of the proponents of discord, nepotism and stigmatization coming from faceless groups or individuals. It is important we review our past, check where we are today and view where we are going to or where we desire to be. With this, we will not only be progressing individually but collectively. We cannot afford to add stigmatization and discord among members of the community to our lingering problems that is yarning for attention.
